Development and education center Novo mesto – study of financial needs for financial literacy of Roma

According to the rails of partner Codici Social Research Agency from Italy, we conducted a survey on the need for financial literacy of Roma people. By using research methods, namely, the analysis of secondary sources, guided interview and focus groups of Roma assistants and professional staff (there were 22 people involved in both focus groups), we tryed to analyze the current situation and financial needs of the Roma population. In the end we gatherd the ideas for resolving the difficulties they are facing with. The analysis of this research will lead us to the development of educational program and teaching aids for the financial literacy of Roma adult.

Introduction of the project FINALLY to expert partners of Development and Education Centre Novo mesto

The Learning parade –  days of learning communities took place on 16th May 2013 and it was one of the main events of this year’s Lifelong Learning Week – TVU 2013. In a single day the event has managed to connect different generations with a wide range of different workshops attended by more than 620 participants. In the evening professional event we represented the Project FINALLY, on the Rudolf raft, to our expert partners, contractors and all others people who help creating educational offering of Development and Education Centre Novo mesto.

 

The first working meeting of the Project Finally partners

On Friday February 1, 2013, a three-day working meeting with the partners of the project Grundtvig Financial Literacy for the Roma (FINALLY) was completed.  The main aim of the project is to improve financial literacy among Roma and to upgrade the understanding of a various consumer services. In addition to the partnership the Project Coordinator RIC Novo mesto involved six partners from Italy, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Greece, Serbia and Slovenia.

At the meeting, we coordinated work activities among the partners. The activities were divided into eight different work packages which are: WP1 – Project Management, WP2 – Needs research, WP3 – Development of a program Finally Trainnig Course, WP4 – Development of Finnaly Toolbox, WP5 – Pilot Implementation, WP6 – Quality assessment, WP7 – Dissemination, WP8 – Strategy and Action.

The project will develop an educational program and special teaching methods adapted to the needs of the Roma minority and focused on the acquisition of practical skills, which may contribute to the improvement of the quality of their lives.

FINALLY Grundtvig project will run until the end of October 2015.
